Ahhh, May is here and the riding season is about to get into full swing! But wait, the Pathfinders have been riding since, well, we haven’t really stopped! All through the winter there have been club rides announced for those that like to ride in the snow. The Pathfinders racing squad also kicked off the race season in January at the annual Snow Run Enduro braving below freezing temperatures. No fair-weathered riders here!
However, since the snow disappeared we have been riding steady. April, for example, was a very busy month. The hare scramble racing season finally got under way after the 2020 hiatus with the Blue Slope Extravaganza. Our club was very well represented with over 24 members lining up from Juniors to AA to Masters and every class in between. There were also trips to NJ for the Greenbriar Enduro and a trip down south for some GNCC racing.
Racing aside, there were a number of local club rides announced. A trip to the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area in PA was also on the menu. Our ever-growing ADV crew put together what is becoming our annual Spring ride with 13 plus riders gearing. Oh yeah, our crew of road riders also got together to take advantage of some of the warmer temps that April had to offer.
But it’s not all fun and games. With the opening of the riding season approaching at the Thomaston Dam, the Pathfinders stepped up to handle trail clean up duties. Two work parties were organized with over 30 members volunteering their free time to make the trails safe and fun for everyone! Truly a commendable effort!
All in all, the 2021 calendar is shaping up to be a jam packed year for our club – which also happens to be our 50th Anniversary! Besides the Hare Scramble and Enduro racing series, we have a diverse selection of trips on the planner including some great Turkey Runs across New England and down to NJ; a trip to single track paradise in Michigan and the DirtDaze rally in NH. Our ADV crew is putting together a trip to run the full Northeast Backcountry Discovery Route spanning 6 states and over 1300 miles! Did I mention the weekly club rides that pop up? These include day trips to MA as well as some of our local sweet spots. On top of that we have our own Dam Good Hare Scramble and Rocktoberfast Enduro that will be hosted by the club.
Sound like fun? Join the club! All you have to do is say, “I’m in!”. Yup, it really is that simple.
